This adapter converts a standard patch cable to a crossover cable, or vice versa.

Cross-over cables are used when either:
-You are networking two PCs together without a switch or hub
-You are connecting two network switches or routers together and neither has an "uplink" port

By converting a standard cable with the crossover adapter, you will create a crossover cable for the uses described above.
